What to Wear to Your Next Summer Party

When the warm weather of Summer arrives, the parties follow along. It's the season of graduations, weddings, and all kinds of celebrations. Some parties don't have a dress code at all, while some require you to put some thought into your outfit. Sure, you can't go wrong with a sundress, but we can make our attire a little more interesting! Here are 3 ways to add a little extra style to your next party outfit.

Exotic prints

Fashion Gone Rouge

Although floral prints are still all the rage right now, it doesn't stand out much considering just how many people adore it. I too, fall in love with the colorful prints that go so well with the sunshine and joy of summer. However, to change things up a bit, I like to add exotic prints for an unconventional twist. For example, Asian prints, which is also the favorite of some high fashion brands like Gucci. Luckily, there are many more affordable options that we can take advantage of. The "exotic allure" collection of Zara this season offers some interesting alternatives. What I especially like about this kind of print is that I can either dress it up for a semi-formal wedding or dress down with a kimono to enjoy some fun at the beach.

Wide-leg Pants

There are some who think they can only wear dresses to formal events. You can only wear a dress to a black-tie wedding?? Well, I disagree. If anything, a pair of quality wide-leg pants might be more formal than a dress. Pants and jumpsuits have made their way to red carpets recently. Celebrities are leading the way to challenge the social norms that women have to look a certain way. Personally, I just love how pants show off your power and femininity. If this is not a showstopper, I don't know what will be.

Statement Jewelry

Sometimes I prefer a simple outfit. This usually means I need something to glam up the outfit. For me, I prefer to add statement jewelry. I usually only pair statement pieces with simple outfits so a balance is maintained. My favorite add-ons are earrings and rings. They may or may not catch your attention upon the first glance, which only makes you appreciate the details even more once you noticed them. I am especially fond of statement rings, or to use another name, cocktail rings. Back in the Prohibition era, it girls of the time wore these extravagant rings with pride to attend their law-breaking parties. This piece of history makes me associate statement rings forever with a bit of mystery and the spirit of rule-breaking. Although we can drink without worrying about breaking the law nowadays, some bold statement rings can still make you the it girl of any party.
