Pantone Color of the Year 2016
Not too long ago I wrote a post about my obsession with the color pink. So naturally I had to create another post when I found out about Pantone's color of the year. As usual I was the last to find out about it, however, when I did eventually learn what they chose I was thrilled. For the first time ever Pantone has chosen two shades; Rose Quartz and Serenity. Pantone executive director Leatrice Eiseman explains;
"Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and a cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace."
I love the decision to pick two colors but I became obsessed when I continued reading their explanation of the two colors. On the site Pantone explains;
"In many parts of the world we are experiencing a gender blur as it relates to fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design. This more unilateral approach to color is coinciding with societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity, the consumer's increased comfort with using color as a form of expression, a generation that has less concern about being typecast or judged and an open exchange of digital information that has opened our eyes to different approaches to color usage."
I was blown away by that statement because I think many of us probably look past the impact of colors. Whereas Pantone is aware of the impact and compares it to the changes in society, which is simply beautiful. For more information on the colors please visit the Pantone website.
Hope you enjoy!
