Nailed It! Fall 2018 Nail Trends

Nail trends change just as much as fashion trends do. Every season brings a full slate of new colors, designs, textures, and finishes.

This fall, don’t go back to basic burgundies and the same bland beiges. Run into the new season fingers first with these five modern nail looks:

Chrome French Manicure

Switch up your classic French manicure with some shine and a neutral or pastel color on the tip, as seen here at a Tanya Taylor show -- once you step away from the nudes, there are endless combinations.

To get this look, try China Glaze nail polishes in “Platinum Silver” and “Home Sweet House Music.”

The Cool Nudes: Taupes, Greiges, and Mauves

I’m over basic nudes this fall, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t maintain simplicity. Find your perfect nude and shift a few shades cooler for an easy twist on an easy nail look.

Muted Metallics

Think of your favorite vampy and muted colors for autumn -- burgundies, burnt oranges, plums and emeralds -- and make ‘em metallic. The micro-glitter will add dimension to a dark nail. Try Dior “Paradox”, as seen above.

Abstract Nails

Just because the leaves are turning colors doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. Pick up some supplies from your local store and explore with colors, textures, and designs. Some of my favorites are messy glitter design or brush stroke nails.

High Shine

There’s something to be said about keeping those autumn colors I mentioned before as is, but just because you’re rocking a matte color doesn’t mean it has to have a matte finish. Give your vampy nails a gel top coat (try Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel top Coat) and take colors like Essie “Wicked” and Jin Soon “Austere” above from inky to straight-up oil slick.
