Review: The Future of Fashion with Alexa Chung in New York
I was recently watching music videos on youtube and a British Vogue video featuring Alexa Chung popped up. I love British Vogue, love Alexa Chung and love that youtube knows enough about me to randomly play this video(kinda creepy but I still love it). Alexa Chung is one of my favorite fashion people and I would support anything she did but this series is truly great. In the New York series, Chung gives viewers a great perspective of different aspects of the fashion business. From fashion designer to PR, Chung interviews various people in the industry and asks about their business practices.
Of all the people she interviewed, my favorite was obviously Leandra Medine of Man Repeller. On my life goals scale Leandra Medine is a close second to Jenna Lyons. I love hearing her tell her story she is a true believer of everyone being their true selves and I just love that.
Overall my favorite part about the series is the fact that all the people she interviewed have very different backgrounds. I believe one went to school for architecture, which proves that life sometimes takes a weird route. There isn't one correct way to do it, the most important thing is to do what you truly believe in and you just might become a top designer or top blogger.
It was also great to seeing the various ways one could be part of the fashion industry without being a designer (which I think most people think is the main way to be involved in fashion. Wrong!) There's room for everyone, you just have to create your own niche and hope it works.
For anyone who wants to be involved in fashion or simply likes hearing origin stories, I highly recommend watching this series.
